Rio+20

Believe it or not, it’s 20 years since the Rio Earth Summit and Rio+20 is the next big international event trying to turn the world towards a sustainable future. It takes place from 20-22 June in Rio. The Global Greens’ adopted a Rio+20 resolution and the Brazilian Greens will be hosting a Rio+20 pre-meeting.

Dakar 2012

Dakar 2012 was a very successful Global Greens Congress, Rio+20 Forum (co-organised by the Green Institute), Green federation and Global Young Greens meetings.   Read the resolutions here and see other pictures and other information here.

A Safe and Just Space for Humanity: Can we Live Within the Doughnut? A neat new discussion paper from Oxfam in the lead-up to Rio+20 in June that brings together minimum standards for human dignity and planetary limits for ecological safety, showing that both can be achieved.

Solar Energy Perspectives — on the pricey side but worth reading if you can find a copy. The IEA analyses the ‘leading role’ for solar energy in the 21st century.

Merchants of Doubt. How a handful of scientists obscured the truth on issues from tobacco smoke to global warming. An excellent book by Naomi Oreskes and Erik Conway.
