Despite the appropriate focus elsewhere on short term survival, the ecological crisis is still a matter of survival in the only slightly longer term.
This is the context in which the Commonwealth is reviewing its environment protection laws, the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act – judged against its own objects, one of the greatest failures in recent Australian legislative history.
An act which exists for the purpose of protecting the environment has overseen a disastrous process of managed destruction of Australia’s environment.
